GEC Baran offers six academic programs, including five B.Tech branches—Computer Science & Engineering (CSE), Civil Engineering (CE), Agricultural Engineering (AE), Electrical Engineering (EE), and Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE)—along with a Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA) program. Each of the CSE, CE, AE, and EE programs has an annual intake of 48 students, while ECE has an intake of 24 students. The BCA program offers 120 seats annually, bringing the total approved intake to 336 students.

Admissions to the B.Tech programs are primarily conducted through the Rajasthan Engineering Admission Process (REAP). Candidates must have passed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. In case seats remain vacant after the regular admission rounds, eligible students can also secure admission through the institute's Spot Counselling process, subject to availability of seats and applicable admission guidelines.

Government Engineering College Baran is affiliated with Rajasthan Technical University (RTU), Kota. Degrees are awarded by RTU upon successful completion of the B.Tech and BCA program.

The tuition fee for B.Tech programs at GECB is ₹30,000 per semester, while the tuition fee for the BCA program is ₹15,000 per semester. In addition to the tuition fee, students are required to pay examination form fees and caution money/deposit charges separately as per institute and university regulations. The applicable fees are subject to revision by the concerned authorities from time to time.

GECB has a large sports ground for cricket, football, and athletics. Indoor facilities include table tennis, chess, and carrom. The college also has cultural club, and technical club (Robotics & Coding) for extracurricular engagement.

Students can submit academic or administrative grievances to their respective Head of Department (HOD) or the concerned Cell In-Charge for resolution. Admission to the BCA program at GECB is primarily conducted through RTU BCA/BBA Admission Counselling (RTUBBAP). Eligible candidates can participate in the counselling process to secure admission. If seats remain vacant after the counselling rounds, the institute conducts Spot Counselling, providing students with an additional opportunity to obtain admission based on seat availability and prescribed eligibility criteria.
